Mark Heinly is a retired Harford County Public School Teacher. During his career of 37 years, he taught a variety of elementary, middle, and high school orchestra and guitar students in the Aberdeen and North Harford areas. In 1986, he began the school orchestra program in the North Harford area of the county. During his tenure there, the North Harford orchestra program continually grew and gained respect throughout the county and state. Mark also taught many private students over the years from fourth grade through adulthood. His orchestras and private students consistently performed well in county and state Orchestra and Solo and Ensemble Festivals. He also adjudicated in several Cecil and Baltimore County Festivals. Through these various experiences he became quite adept at adjusting his teaching technique for diverse populations of students ages, abilities, and learning styles.

Mark’s main instrument is cello and has had many musical experiences that began at an early age and have lasted throughout his life. These include performing in many school, college, and community orchestras, as well as musicals, quartets, and weddings. He has enjoyed the development of talents and sharing his expertise and love of music throughout each of these opportunities. Mark brings his ability to teach cello, violin, viola, and beginning guitar to Music Land and hopes to inspire students and help them reach their best potential as developing musicians.
